BCCC Twentieth Anniversary Season Begins

BCCC Chorale members are all smiles at Summer Chorus Camp 2011, the opening event of the Twentieth Anniversary Season.

Berks Classical Children’s Chorus began its Twentieth Anniversary Season, with a crop of excited new and returning singers, at the BCCC Summer Chorus Camp 2011, at Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, PA, August 8 through 12. In addition to ensemble rehearsals, camp featured classes in sight-singing, theory, and recorders. A highlight of the week was a performance by David Kline, well-known local folk singer and guitarist, who presented a program on folk song traditions from around the world. At the end of the week, singers sang in a mini-concert for families and friends. Camp was led by Jeffrey Brunner, Director of Choristers, and Peter Sunderman, Interim Director of Chorale. Kristin Barone, a music educator in the Oley Valley School District, joined the staff and led classes in recorders and group unity.

BCCC MasterSingers dig into new music for the upcoming Twentieth Anniversary Season during their Summer Retreat.

The Twentieth Anniversary Season continued with the MasterSingers Retreat, Friday, August 26 at GoggleWorks, and Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading, PA. Newly appointed Director of MasterSingers, William W. Snelling, led the singers through a typical round of vocal training and challenging music, while managing to squeeze in a game of “Chicken and the Egg.” In spite of Hurricane Irene, about three-fourths of the singers ended the weekend participating in the Trinity Lutheran worship service. That’s dedication!
